On July 8th, 1989, Cary Allbritton and three of his friends were walking back to his apartment at 2332 10th Court South, when an unknown black male approached the group in the breezeway. The unknown male attempted to snatch the purse that belonged to one of the females in the group. Cary Allbritton attempted to intervene, by confronting the unknown male. The unknown male pulled a gun and shot Cary in the chest. Cary then fled to The Nick, a local bar, where he was transport to UAB where he would succumb to his injuries.
